England FA might bring a rule that will allow only 13 foreign players in first team instead of 17 that is allow now

Soccer News:

England Premiership is one of the best soccer leagues in the world. Except some individual clubs in Europe best soccer players are playing in Premiership so it’s not a surprise that Premiership has the biggest TV contract in the world.

But no matter how many good players are playing in England clubs for some reasons England clubs are not terrifying force in Europe. If we take a look at England national team then things are much worse. England national team almost go on every bigger soccer event with the dream about medals and most of the times they get kicked out in the group or first knock-out round.

President of England FA Greg Dyke send a suggestion that from the season 2019-2020 England clubs could have maximal 13 foreign players. Currently in Premiership there is a rule that allow club to have most of 17 foreign players of 25 players from first team. Dyke said that this year in UEFA Champions League there were only 23 players from England playing. Dyke also compare the statistic in Premiership where statistic is even worse, in last season England players played only 32% of total game minutes while only 20 years earlier this was 70%.

Currently two best clubs in England are having similar “problems”. In Chelsea and Manchester City only 4 players in total can count as start XI players, from Chelsea Gary Cahill and John Terry and from Manchester City Joe Hart and James Milner. Situation in Arsenal and Manchester United is not so different. Premiership was always a pioneer with new ideas like 3 points for a win or new goal technology, it will be interesting to see will Greg Dyke be able to make this rule alive.
