LA Liga: How will FC Barcelona lineup against Sevilla

LA Liga Match Preview

As they say that adversity gets the best out of you, similar might be the case for FC Barcelona after that win against Almeria in the mid-week. With Neymar dropped, Busquets suspended, and Pique and Iniesta both out of action, the midfield was as in-experienced as we have seen from FC Barcelona in years.

However, thanks to the Old-guard in Xavi and an ever relying Vanguard in Lionel Messi, Barcelona were able to streamline past a visibly distraught Almeria side. While Marc Bartra nodded in to make the most of his chance, Luis Suarez was another positive figure for the Barcelona folklore in mid-week.

Now, moving further with one eye on that ‘’ever-important” Champions League quarter final against Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona would be looking to mitigate the threat that is coming their way in the shape of Sevilla.

Sevilla have not lost a home game this season and their last defeat at home goes way back to February 2014

While this isn’t the most famous of Sevilla sides that the Spanish crowd has seen over the years, it still has the muscle of competing for Europe in LA Liga. And with Ivan Rakitic coming back to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán for the first time since his departure, a heated welcome is guaranteed for the former Sevilla Captain.

In last 11 fixtures between these sides, Sevilla manages a single win with 7 victories for Barcelona in the meantime.

Taking a look at the most potent threat that Barcelona is to offer, and it is, invariably, Lionel Messi. Far from his playing position from the era of Pep Guardiola this season, Lionel Messi has enshrined a new dimension of his game this season. However, what integrates the threat that Barcelona offers, is the red-hot form that Luis Suarez is enjoying at the moment.

Sevilla are coming into this match on a 5-match winning run which has drawn them closer to Champions League places

While he enjoyed a serene start to his Barcelona career with just 2 goals in his opening 10, next 11 appearances has seen him score 8 goals. Thus, with him enjoying the center-stage in a World-class trio of South American strikers, Barcelona would be sure to run riot if Suarez can wave his magic wand once again.

Here is how FC Barcelona are expected to lineup against Sevilla: –

Bravo – Mascherano – Bartra – Alba – Alves – Busquets – Xavi – Rakitic – Suarez – Messi – Neymar
