Barclays Premier League: How will Liverpool lineup against West Brom

Premier League Match Preview

Stunned out of the FA Cup Quarter Finals, standing at 5th place in the Barclays Premier League with a team that looks more like a mid-table side for the past 3 weeks, Brendan Rodgers would be a worried man going into this fixture.

With questions still remaining on the fitness of Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard still lingering from his pre-departure syndrome, it would take some effort from Brendan Rodgers to devise his starting 11 for Saturday. However, with Steven Gerrard just 1 match short of making 500 Premier League appearances for the Reds, he is expected to at-least play a part in this match.

Although it all seems doomed and gloomed for the Reds and we still aren’t in May, there is a glimmer of hope for the Reds to still fight for. With 5 games in the Premier League remaining 1 of which is against Chelsea, Liverpool can ill afford to lose further points if they are to keep their push for the Champions League spot alive.

Saido Berahino has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season, 15 of those 18 have come at home.

And looking at the threat that is waiting for them at the Hawthorn Stadium in shape of Saido Berahino, the Baggies striker might pose a potent threat for the lingering Liverpool defense. With 18 goals in all competitions 15 of which came at home, Berahino is a different ball game when it comes to at the Hawthorn Stadium.

Apart from that Jordan Henderson contract renewal which is a huge boast for the Reds, the return of Adam Lallana as well as that of Lucas Leiva will help to strengthen the Liverpool midfield. Talking about the list of absentees and although it isn’t that big, it still has the ability to damage the Reds push for a top-4 spot.

With Mamadou Sakho sidelined and Daniel Sturridge doubtful, it won’t be the best Liverpool starting 11 that will enter the Hawthorns Stadium on Saturday. Raheem Sterling is again expected to lead the line along with Philippe Coutinho who is currently undergoing a purple-patch in terms of form for Liverpool.

Current Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has never lost a Premier League home game against Liverpool.

While the position of West Brom in the League table might suggest otherwise, the form of Liverpool against West Brom hasn’t be assuring of late. With just 2 wins under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers in last 5 meetings, Hawthorns hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the Reds.

Here is how Liverpool are expected to lineup at the Hawthorns Stadium on Saturday: –
