With today victory over HBC Nantes 32-26 Paris Saint-Germain is new (old) winner of “Coupe de France”. This is Paris Saint-Germain first trophy of the season and it might be their last one, since they get kicked out of EHF Velux Champions League and in France LNH Division they are currently 2nd with 3 points behind Montpellier.
Nantes comes in the finals beating current LHN leader Montpellier 34-30 while Paris Saint-Germain was better than Chambery Savoie 25-20. Final game started with crazy tempo, both sides were keeping the fast pace. First real advantage was for the title holder Paris Saint-Germain; in 6’ they manage to get two goals lead (6-4). Nantes quickly manages to come back and in 13’ they have three goals lead, it was 9-6 for them. Paris Saint-Germain or maybe it’s better to say Mikkel Hansen quickly acts and they left Nantes without the goal for the next eight minutes while scoring six for Paris Saint-Germain. Nantes tries to get back into the game but they didn’t have the strength and final score of the first half was 14-12 for Paris Saint-Germain.
In 2nd half Nantes decide to equal the score. Paris Saint-Germain had some other plans and in 36’ it was already 4 goals advantage for PSG. At that point nobody expect that Nantes could get back into the game, but they did. In 44’ Nantes finally equal the score 21-21 and only four minutes later they took the lead 23-22. But PSG left winger Jeffrey M’Tima was determine to win the trophy with Paris Saint-Germain and PSG start to make another goal advantage. In 53’ they had three goals lead (27-24) and in 56’ they had four goals lead (29-25). Until the end Nantes tried to come back but experienced PSG team didn’t allow one more comeback from opponents.
M’Tima was best scorer for PSG with 11/13 goals, Hansen scored 8/8 whole Kopljar scored 4/5.For Nantes Anic (7/8) and Claire (7/10) were best scorers.
