EHF Velux Champions League: Szeged beat one more Bundesliga club and lucky draw in Paris

EHF Velux Champions League:

Today we saw a last two games of EHF Velux Champions League quarter-finals.

Paris Saint-Germain vs. MKB-MVM Veszprem 24 – 24 (10 – 12)

In a good game PSG manage to get a draw against Veszprem. Start of the game won by Veszprem, with Ilic scoring from the outside and Mikler saving everything Veszprem get the 3 goals lead. PSG tried to come back but Hansen and Abalo couldn’t keep up and Veszprem end with 12-10 lead on the halftime. Second half started similar as first, Veszprem was better team and goal differences even grow. PSG has struggle until Accambray and Omeyer decide that they cannot lose. Accambray with 4 goals in a row and Omeyer with some key saves give PSG a chance not to lose this game. At the end Luc Abalo scored the last goal for 24-24. Hansen (8) and Accambray (5) were best scorers for PSG wile Ilic (8) and Ivancsik (4) were best scorers for Veszprem.

MOL-Pick Szeged vs. THW Kiel 31 – 29 (17 – 15)

Spectators in Szeged see one very interesting game, were only form of defense was attack. Szeged played excellent back up with their last round win against Rhein-Neckar Lowen and full arena in Szeged; they quickly get four goals lead. Kiel quickly response but the best they could do at that point is -2, what was the score of the first half 17-15. In the second it was similar story, but home side slowly start losing their high pressure rhythm and in 51’ Kiel manage to equal the score. At that points most spectators (in arena and on TV) was thinking that Kiel will close the game and take the win, but once more Bombac shine and give his team strength to take 2 goals win. Bombac (6) and Balogh (5) were best scorers for Szeged; Weinhold (5) was the best scorer for Kiel
