Barclays Premier League: How will Tottenham line up against Newcastle United

Barclays Premier League Match Preview

With their hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League all but dusted, Tottenham would be hoping to pile further misery on their hosts on Sunday. If there was any chance remaining for Tottenham to have a last dig at the Champions League places, last weekend’s home win by the hands of Aston Villa has all but ruined their chances.

However, with Southampton losing on Saturday and Liverpool in FA Cup commitments, a win in this match might will give the Whites an extra incentive to grab a higher position in the table. And looking at the condition of their hosts, Tottenham are favorites to get out of this fixture with all 3-points in their bag.

Tottenham have failed to score a goal in their last 2 away trips in the Premier League.

Since the appointment of John Carver, the Magpies have suffered some real bad fortunes in terms of their form. Aged 50 and having managed just 1 team during his decade long career permanently, Carver was seen more as an urgent replacement of Alan Pardew then his long term successor. And looking at the performances of Newcastle under his tutelage, the English manager has done little to vindicate the owner’s decision of appointing him.

Since his appointment in January, John Carver has won just 2 games out of 10 – losing 6 in the process.

Talking about the team news and the North London side will be sweating on the fitness of three of their first team players. With Kyle Walker, Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen all doubtful, Tottenham might have to field a different XI.

Here is how Tottenham are expected to lineup against Newcastle United on Sunday: –

Tottenham lineup:

Vorm – Yedlin – Dier – Chriches – Rose – Bentaleb – Eriksen – Mason – Lamela – Kane – Chadli

Newcastle United Vs Tottenham will take place at the St. James Park on Sunday, 19th April.
