Manchester United target Nathaniel Clyne drops huge hint of where he wants to play next season

Manchester United transfer News

When Southampton undergone a mass-exodus of players last summer that earned them a profit of multi-million pounds, nobody would have thought that this club will compete with the English elite for the better part of this season. While they competed vigorously till November after which the phased out, Southampton are currently eyeing a place in Europa League for next season.

At a time when his club is struggling in the League, the latest comments from the right-back Nathaniel Clyne would further fuel rumors of his exit. While he has a contract with Southampton that runs beyond this summer, a tug-of-war is expected over the battle of his signature at the end of this season.

And while Southampton are trying their level best to diffuse the situation, the interview given by Clyne to THE TIMES will again spur the situation.

I see myself hopefully playing in the Champions League and competing for titles and trophies.

“ When asked about the speculation surrounding his future:

“It’s always good to have teams looking out for you — it shows how well you’ve been doing all season.

“I am going to take that, and keep on performing and be the best player I can be. I see myself hopefully playing in the Champions League and competing for titles and trophies. That’s what I’m aiming for. That’s what you play football for, that’s the dream. I would say that’s the next step in my progression.”

Having won 61 tackles and 86 clearances for the Saints this season, Clyne has been an integral part of the Southampton folklore this season. However, with Southampton playing their usual hard-ball over outgoing transfers, Manchester United would have to make an outrageous bid to convince the Saints to sell their prized asset.
