Soccer Rumors: Juan Mata wanted by Juventus

Soccer News and Rumors:

A lot of Manchester United fans think that Juan Mata hasn’t lived to the expectations during the time he has played for the Red Devils. However, it’s not entirely true that the Spaniard has been a bust – in 42 Premier League matches, he has scored thirteen goals and has also made eight assists. Mata joined Manchester United during the January transfer window in 2014, but it seems that very soon he could be leaving Old Trafford. The latest reports are that Juventus are looking for a playmaker that will replace Paul Pogba next season, and Mata is one of the targets.

If Juventus can’t find a way to retain Pogba for at least one more season, they will surely need to sign a playmaker that is good enough to fill his shoes. It has been reported that the Italian team is currently monitoring Oscar and Juan Mata, and they will be the club’s main targets for the summer transfer window. You may argue that the Spaniard is not good enough to replace Pogba, but throughout the current campaign, Mata has been a regular in the starting lineup and has shown some pretty solid form. Nevertheless, in my opinion it is a bit foolish to think that.

Jamie Redknapp recently stated the following:

“I’ve heard some United fans and ex-pros saying he’s got no pace or he can’t do this or that. When he gets in the right place at the right time, he can cut open any team. He has a fantastic football brain and his decision-making is so quick that he doesn’t need to be fast. If you can read the game that well and take up intelligent positions then pace is not necessary. Nothing moves faster than the ball.”

In my opinion, it will be very hard for Juventus to sign Juan Mata during the summer, as Louis Van Gaal won’t give him up very easily. If the Italian club is ready to pay a large amount of money Manchester United may think about selling the Spaniard, but in every other case it’s unthinkable.
