Pep Guardiola: Bayern injury problem has reached critical level

Soccer News:

Bayer Munich is doing great in both Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League. Currently they are Bundesliga leader with huge 10 points advantage in front of second Wolfsburg. In UEFA Champions League they are in similar situation after winning the group they demolish Shakhtar Donetsk (0:0 and 7:0) in Allianz arena and go ahead into the next round.

Injured player become critical problem for Bayern

But no matter their good play it seems that injury are not letting them go, their coach Pep Guardiola said that injury problem in Bayern has reached it critical point. Mehdi Benatia is the latest player on Bayern injury list, beside him are Arjen Robben, David Alaba, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez. The only good news about injury is that Franck Ribery started training after his injury, but it will take some time until he is ready for full 90 minutes. Pep Guardiola said that they had a problem before, but now they have even more problems and that Bayern Munich situation at this point is very critical.

“Schweinsteiger will not be there against Frankfurt. I do not know whether Ribery can fly with us to Porto on Monday. We must not forget he has missed five weeks. But if he can play maybe five minutes it will be a help. We must concentrate on the players that we have. We want to keep on fighting for three titles even in this situation.”

One thing also worried Guardiola and that are return dates of injured players especial Arjen Robben who was one of key players last season for Bayern Munich. Guardiola said that he might be back in semi-final of DFB Pokal that is on schedule for 28th April against Borussia Dortmund.

Lahm and Alcantara back but it will take some time until they return to top form

For the upcoming games Guardiola will be able to count on Philip Lahm and Thiago Alcantara, but Guardiola said that due to their length of time away from the field he can’t expect them to get back in top form quickly. Bayern Munich will play against Eintracht on Saturday and then on Wednesday they got first game of UEFA Champions League against Porto.
