After long time “La Vecchia Signora” is in semi-final of UEFA Champions League. For Juventus this will be their first semi-final after season 2002/2003 when they lost in finals against AC Milan. After that Finals much happened in Juventus and once top club in Europe has vanished from European scene. But now almost 12 years later they are back. They are still not the force like they used to be but they are slowly going toward that goal.
We still didn’t won anything
Juventus manage to get into semi-final on true Italian way, hard defense and only one goal scored from penalty shot in Turin. Juventus icon Gianluigi Buffon said after the game in Monaco that they are happy for reaching their goals semi-finals.
“I’ve had to wait a while to return to this stage of Europe! But, given how difficult our path here has been, it’s even more enjoyable. However, we have not won or achieved anything yet, we just wanted to get to the semi-final at all cost. The opportunity was waiting for us, though tonight there was a lot more tension than in the second leg against Borussia Dortmund in the last round. Monaco was trickier and we only had a small advantage.”
Most expensive goalkeeper of all time
Buffon is truly a sport icon in his long career (37 years old) he only played for two clubs. He started his career in Parma for who he played from 1995-2001. In 2001 he moves to Juventus for whom he is playing today and until now he played over 400 games for Juventus. Buffon hold some impressive records like most clean-sheets in a single World Cup edition, most expensive goalkeeper of all time, only goalkeeper to ever be awarded UEFA Club Footballer of the Year, most appearances for Italy and so on. Juventus join Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich for a UEFA Champions League draw that will take place on Friday 12:00 CET.
