Amid reports that Real Madrid are considering a summer swoop for the Belgian playmaker of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has come out in grand fashion to have his say. While he is not a type of person who holds anything barred, his latest claim regarding the worth of 24 year old should have left a large grin on the faces of the Chelsea folklore.
Looking at Real Madrid and their ability to lure the best of England to Santiago Bernabeu, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, and Gareth Bale falls in the list of players that were acquired by Real Madrid from the Premier League. Thus, while the arrival of these players made LA Liga more competitive and pleasing to the eye, it also left a huge vacuum in the Premier League.
However, with a rare breed as he is, Jose Mourinho has told his former employers in clear terms about the un-availability of Eden Hazard. Having scored 18 goals this season in all competitions, Hazard has been an influential figure of the Campaign that will see Chelsea crowned as Champions next month.
When asked about the availability of Hazard and whether 100million would be enough for Chelsea to part their ways from the Belgian Mourinho answered: “Plus one of their three best players. £100m each leg, because he’s very young.”
These comments have come forth after the praising of Eden Hazard by Zinedine Zidane. However, for Mourinho who spent a eventful spell at Real Madrid before eventually joining Chelsea for his 2nd tenure, the Portuguese believes that the rumors lack anything materialistic.
“I don’t believe (it) because they didn’t tell me,” he said.
“If they want him, I think I would be the first one to know, because my relationship with the president (Florentino Perez) and with the CEO (Jose Angel Sanchez) doesn’t give space for something to happen behind me.
“I trust them completely. If they want him they get on the telephone and they call me to tell me they want him.”
Chelsea will take on Arsenal today in a fixture in which Mourinho hasn’t lost in the last 12 attempts.
