Socccer News: Harry Kane - a star proclaimed too soon?

Soccer, Premier League News:

Harry Kane has been the sensation everyone has talked and talked about this season. The Tottenham Hotspur striker has really played sensational during the current campaign and has turned a lot of heads. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and a lot of other big clubs have started to scout him and will love to have him in their lineups. Nevertheless, is Kane really as good as everyone thinks he is?

In his previous seasons, Kane has shown the potential of becoming a pretty decent striker, but no one expected him to play as good as he is playing now. During the 2014/15 campaign, however, he has been phenomenal. As soon as Kane became a starter, he has impressed. In the twenty times he has been in Tottenham’s starting eleven, the striker has scored eighteen goals.

Everyone has praised Kane for his physic, for his all-around abilities and calmness in front of goal. Nevertheless, there are a lot of questions that must be asked. Can Harry Kane retain this form in the future, or is this just a flash? Can Tottenham build around Kane and win the title? It’s really hard to answer these questions because Kane is just 21-years-old, and there isn’t a living man in this world that can predict the future with perfect accuracy. The only thing we can do is speculate.

Kane has had an impressive statistical season, but has Tottenham benefited as a team from that? If the Spurs finish the season in sixth position or even lower (they are currently seventh based on goal difference), it will definitely be a huge disappointment. Furthermore, if this tendency continues, will Kane remain such a fan favorite? Moreover, what if Kane doesn’t repeat this season’s performance next year – will he be blamed for all of Tottenham’s failures? Probably yes, he will be the main person that everyone will say is guilty of the team’s weak form.

In my opinion, Kane shouldn’t be proclaimed as a superstar yet. Yes, he has a magnificent statistical year, but can one season mean that he is already a top-tier striker? Not exactly. If Kane really wants to be a superstar in European football, he has to maintain this form and improve in time. He needs to post multiple seasons with impressive stats. And last, but not least – his team should be winning. So let’s stop putting pressure on the youngster and let’s stop calling him a star. Maybe one day he will become a star, he has the qualities, but that day hasn’t come yet.
