The way Porto was able to defeat Bayern Munich at the Estadio di Dragao on Wednesday was a big alarm call for the German team. The Bavarians have been more than dominant in the Bundesliga throughout the current season, but now find themselves on the brink of elimination in the UEFA Champions League. Pep Guardiola and his men were just dominated by their Portuguese opponent and will have a pretty hard task to dig themselves out of the 3:1 hole they are currently in.
Furthermore, it seems that defeat has brought the Bavarians to reality, and their management has already started thinking how to strengthen the team for the next season. It has been reported that one of Bayern Munich is Atletico Madrid’s young forward, Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman has been terrific for his team throughout this year’s campaign and has quickly become one of the most wanted players in Europe. Griezmann has been a vital cog in Diego Simeone’s machine and has shown flashes of brilliance very often. It’s expected that the French forward will continue to improve in the following years, as he is just 24-years-old at the moment.
It’s rumored that Bayern Munich will offer Atletico Madrid a large amount of money in the summer transfer window, but the question is whether the Spanish team will let Griezmann go? My expectations are that the young forward will continue his career in Atletico at least for the next couple of seasons. He signed a five-year contract with the Spanish club last summer.
For Bayern Munich, a change of players could prove beneficiary, as they haven’t been able to reach the UEFA Champions League final since they won the tournament in 2013. There have been rumors that the Bavarians are also targeting Sergio Ramos and Kevin de Bruyne or the summer transfer window.
