Barclays Premier League: How will Liverpool lineup against Newcastle United

Premier League Match Preview

Coming from a defeat at the Emirates which has left their hopes of finishing high in tatters, Liverpool will host Newcastle United on Monday night football at Anfield. Looking at the form of Newcastle and the tactics employed by the new manager John Carver since his appointment, Newcastle will be coming into this match as the under dogs.

Liverpool will be looking to exploit the weaknesses of their guests to hide the own shortcoming after two season derailing defeats against team whom they are competing directly with for a place in the top 4.

Liverpool will be without their skipper Steven Gerrard as the former England captain will serve the last of his 3 match ban at Anfield. Stopped Martin Skrtel will also be out as he will serve the last of his 3 match ban.

However, talking about good news and although there seem little for Liverpool in that aspect, is the return of full back Emre Can. After serving his one match suspension against Blackburn Rovers in the mid-week, Can will definitely cover the right flank for Liverpool on Monday.

Talking about the absentees and although Liverpool have had their fair share of injuries this season, they will be without Mamadou Sakho, Jose Enrique and Jordan Ibe. Adam Lallana and Mario Balotelli are both doubtful after sitting out of that win against Blackburn in mid-week.

Even though they have a match more, Southampton piled pressure on Liverpool with their win over Hull City at the weekend. With the Saints sitting level on points with the Reds – and above on goal difference, a win in this fixture would retain the 5th spot for Liverpool.

Here is how Liverpool are expected to lineup against Newcastle United on Monday: –

Liverpool Starting lineup:

Mignolet – Lovren – Can – Johnson – Moreno – Henderson – Allen – Lucas – Sturridge – Sterling – Coutinho

Liverpool Vs Newcastle United will take place at the Anfield Stadium on Monday, 13th April.
