NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers looking to trade Nick Young after season's end

Basketball, NBA Rumors:

It has been a pretty tough season for the Los Angeles Lakers, but for the relieve of their fans it’s coming to an end. As the summer comes along, it brings hopes that the franchise could rebuild through the draft and free-agency. That brings us to the question, which players from the current roster will stay and which will go. One thing is certain – Julius Randle and Kobe Bryant aren’t going anywhere. However, the situation for Nick Young isn’t exactly the same. There have been reports that the 29-year-guard will be traded, as the Lakers are looking for younger players.

Young has averaged 13.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season, but his shot percentage from the field is just 36.6. Furthermore, he has been limited to just 42 regular-season contests this year, as injuries have bothered him from the start of the current campaign. It’s a bit hard to imagine which team will want Young on their roster, as he has been a very inefficient scorer throughout his career. Even Byron Scott stated that in a recent interview:

“Nick thinks he’s up there with Reggie Miller and Larry Bird from a shooting standpoint. But if you look at their shooting percentage and you look at his, he’s not there.”

In my opinion, Nick Young is a too risky asset for a team. Yes, he can score a lot, when he is given the ball, but his attitude has been problematic in all of his years as a professional in the NBA. During the current season, Young has had clashes with the Lakers coach, Byron Scott, clearly refusing to follow his game plans. Players like this aren’t demanded a lot, so it will be a surprise if the Lakers can find any squad that is willing to trade for him.
