Barclays Premier League Match Preview
Against a team that hasn’t allowed the Red devils to take all 3-points at its home turf for the last 2 seasons, this fixture couldn’t have come at a better time for Manchester United. Although trips to Merseyside are always a heart-and-mouth stuff for Manchester United, their recent form takes them as favorites to this particular fixture. And with Liverpool dropping points once again away to Tony Pulis’s West Brom, a win for Manchester United at the Goodison Park would all but guarantee their place in the top 4.
Manchester United have won just 3 of their last 9 away games in the Premier League
While that trip to Chelsea brought back painful memories of how much Manchester United still lack to beat the best, they performed much better than expected against the Champions-to-be. Thus, if they could bring the same belief and momentum in this match with which they entered Stamford Bridge last week, Manchester United should have no worries whatsoever to clinch all 3-points against a struggling Everton side.
Everton have lost more points from winning positions than any other side in the Premier League this season.
Looking at the injury list of Manchester United and the situation looks gloomy for the Red devils. Being the 2nd joint most scathed team in the League in terms of players out injured, Everton can make life difficult for Manchester United on Sunday. With Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo still sidelined, Manchester United are set to miss the trinity of players that played a major part in their upheaval this year.
However, with Daley Blind coming back from his injury, Luke Shaw might again be relegated to the bench. And with both Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao fit, Wayne Rooney might have to play the same role in United midfield which he performed against Chelsea the other week.
Here’s how Manchester United are expected to lineup against Everton: –
