NBA Rumors: Scott Brooks leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder?

Basketball, NBA News:

The season for the Oklahoma City Thunder came to a very painful end on Wednesday, as the team was finished in the eighth position in the Western Conference table and couldn’t qualify for the playoffs. This could be one of the biggest disappointments of the current season, as everyone around the league thought that OKC was a legitimate title contender before the start of the campaign. Nevertheless, they were plagued by various injuries – Kevin Durant missed most of the season and wasn’t available at its end, Russell Westbrook injured his hand at the beginning of the campaign and Serge Ibaka was lost for the season in February.

Even though there were a lot of factors that just couldn’t have been controlled, it’s clear that the team’s coach, Scott Brooks, will receive a lot of critics. It won’t be the first time that this has happened. Brooks has received a lot of criticism during his stay in Oklahoma City, but this season is the first one since the 2009-2010 campaign. There have been reports that the Thunder’s management will spend time trying to evaluate the partnership with Brooks and figure out the franchise’s future. He still has one more year on his contract, but it’s unsure whether he will remain with the team for it.

Scott Brooks has been the Thunder’s coach for the last seven years, and he is well liked in the entire organization. Nevertheless, it’s a bit doubtful that he is the person that could lead a healthy OKC squad to an NBA title. In my opinion, Brooks still has a lot to learn and isn’t the right man for the job. The Thunder needs a coach that has better knowledge about both offensive and defensive tactics, that will lift the team to the next level. It has been rumored that the coach of the University of Florida, Billy Donovan is a potential candidate for Brook’s job.
