Velux EHF Champions League: Vive Tauron Kielce, Veszprem and Kiel join Barcelona for Final Four in Cologne

Velux EHF Champions League:

After Barcelona yesterday, today we found out who will join Barcelona in Cologne at Final Four of Velux EHF Champions League.

KS Vive Tauron Kielce – HC Vardar 33 – 31 (16 – 14)

First game of the day was between Vive Tauron Kielce and Vardar. In the first game Vardar lost by 2 goals, so they had a slim chance seeing Final Four. Game started good for Kielce and they took early two games lead. They keep the lead until the half time, Vardar started better in second half and in 40 minutes they manage to equal the score. But Raul Gonzales quickly putts Kielce back in the two goals lead. Vardar tried to equal the score until the end but they didn’t have strength and concentration to do that.

MKB-MVM Veszprem – Paris Saint-Germain 34 – 28 (16 – 12)

Hungarian team manages to beat Paris Saint-Germain and to book their ticket for Final Four second year in a row. Difference from the first game was that Veszprem was dominating in this game, from the first to the last referee whistle. The only problem that Veszprem player had been Mikkel Hansen who scored 15 goals for Paris Saint-Germain. PSG better open the game and it took almost 10 minutes before Veszprem could take the lead. Veszprem defense in this game was proven to be too strong for everyone except Hansen, but tonight he couldn’t find one more teammate to help him with the goals. At the end Veszprem win with six goals advantage.

THW Kiel – MOL-Pick Szeged 31 – 23 (18 – 10)

From all games today THW Kiel is the only host that lost their first game. Szeged arrived in Kiel with 2 goals advantage from the first game. Kiel decides the game in the first six minutes when they manage to get 6-2 and already cancel Szeged advantage from the first game. Szeged coach calls the time-out and hope to wake up his team, but Kiel was just dominating. Vujin and Jicha soon made 8 goals difference (12-4). Until the halftime Kiel hold eight goals lead, it could be more if they didn’t have some unforced errors. In second part key moment was when Szeged miss three penalty shot and Kiel soon after manage to score for 25-15. How dominating was Kiel tonight you can see from one point that starts like Domagoj Duvnjak or Joan Canellas stayed on the bench during most part of the game.

Final Four draw will be held 21of April in 11:30 and four clubs that manage to take the ticket for it are FC Barcelona, KS Vive Tauron Kielce, MKB-MVM Veszprem and THW Kiel.
