5 Liverpool players that could leave the club in summer transfer window

Liverpool transfer news

Coming out from a seething defeat against Manchester United which has left them in cold, Liverpool now have some must win games coming up their way if they are to be a part of Champions League next season. While their current problems aren’t that big – or at-least they don’t look that bad, a mass exodus of players from Anfield will push Brendan Rodgers to devise a new plan.

Here are 5 Liverpool players that could leave the club in summer transfer window: –

Brad Jones

After serving 5 years at the club most of which came from the bench, the Australian goal-keeper is running out of contract this summer. While he has served the Merseyside club for the last 5 years, his role at the club was minimal bar his occasional guest appearances when the main man in goal was either out injured or suspended. Thus, coping with his loss might not be that huge however, his departure will mean that Liverpool will be going after a new goal-keeper.

Glen Johnson

Having played for Chelsea in his long career before joining Liverpool, the 30-year-old full back will leave Liverpool football club in the coming transfer window. While he is currently one of the highest earners at the club with a wage approaching 100k per week, he will be out of contract this summer after his representatives failed to agree with Liverpool on contract extension.

Jose Enrique

Speaking at this time, his future looks set to be in Liverpool, however, in the long run and what might that bring, the permanent adaptability of 3-5-2 formation might mean the end of road for Jose Enrique at Liverpool after 4 years of service to the club. While his opportunities were bound to be minimal when Liverpool signed another left-full-back in Alberto Moreno, new formation acquired by the Liverpool manager has limited the game time of the Spaniard.

Fabio Borini

After months of indecisiveness and minutes of first team action, the Italian Fabio Borini might after-all leave the Merseyside club in summer. While Liverpool tried their best to offload him in January with Sunderland the potential buyers, the stubbornness of the Italian failed that deal. However, with 3 strikers already at the club and Raheem Sterling also playing in that main striker role, Fabio Borini might turn to Italy in the summer.

Mario Balotelli

For a player who was more like an experiment that failed, the career of Mario Balotelli at Liverpool is as dull as his performances. For the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers who categorized Balotelli as ‘’ a risk worth taking’’, his spell with the Italian might not be less than a nightmare. Replacing the ilk and stature of Luis Suarez is one thing, choosing Mario Balotelli as his eventual successor was a blunder from which Liverpool never fully recovered this season.

However, just after 12 months of his celebrated arrival at the club, the Italian might have to pack his bags in pursuit of a new destination.
