Murray faces Djokovic for the Miami Open final

Tennis Updates:

Andy Murray will face Novak Djokovic in a match where the Scot will hope to bring to an end a six-match losing streak against the world number. The match will be played on Sunday and is the final of the Miami Open tournament.

The third seeded Briton, will try to win his 3rd Miami title, as Nole is going for his fifth.

The Serb has dominated their duels over the last couple of years, with six straight wins since Murray’s Wimbledon victory in 2013.

“Novak has played great tennis this year, in Australia and last week [in Indian Wells] as well,” said Murray.

“He’s come through some tough matches here. He was down a set and a break against [Alexandr] Dolgopolov and [David] Ferrer was a tricky match as well but he’s found ways to come through.

“It will be a tricky match.”

Murray hopes to end on a high note in Miami before flying back to the UK to marry his fiancé Kim Sears next Saturday.

“I definitely feel I’m playing better here than I was in Indian Wells,” said the 27-year-old Scot, who has a home in Miami.

“I prefer the conditions here. Over the course of my career I’ve played much better tennis here.

“It’s been a good few weeks for me and it will be a nice way to finish if off in the final on Sunday before the wedding.”

Djokovic managed to beat Murray two times this year, in the final match of the Australian Open and Indian Wells semi-finals, and will take a shot at winning the Indian Wells-Miami double for the 3rd time in his career.

What is more, the Serb, 27, has also won his last 9 matches against Andy on hard courts stretching back to the 2012 US Open final.

“That gives me confidence, and maybe a slight mental advantage,” said Djokovic.

“But we’re talking about small margins. That’s always the case when we play against each other.

“Andy has been playing so well this year, especially here in Miami over the years.

“He lives here, spends a lot of time practicing on these courts, so he’s familiar with the conditions.”
