4 signings that will make Manchester United title contenders next season

Manchester United transfer news

Amid a storm of criticism when Manchester United stepped out on the Old Trafford turf to face Tottenham a fortnight ago, it was thought that this would be it – that the bubble would burst like a massive black hole and all the dreams of the Manchester United faithful will evaporate. However, over the next 30 minutes of the first half, the Red devils showed enough arrogance to mellow a red onion. And with a win against Liverpool also stamping their authority, the Red devils look destine to challenge for their 21st Premier League title next season.

Here are 4 signings that can make Manchester United title contenders next season: –

Nigel De Jong

For a player who is into his 30’s and will turn 31 this November, De Jong would make a more positive impact on the Red devils than many youngsters around. Running out on his last season at contract with the Italian side AC Milan, De Jong would prefer a re-union with his former Dutch boss at Manchester United.

Mats Hummels

While he already has signed a new contract with the Signal Iduna Park residents this season that will keep him in the Bundesliga till 2019, lack of Champions League football or for that matter – any kind of European football next season may force him to consider his options.

And with Manchester United still adamant to test the resolve of Borussia, Hummels might well be wearing a Manchester United shirt next season.

With his ability to lead his teams, knack of scoring important goals and an in-built strategy to play counter attacking football, Mats Hummels would contribute nicely to the Red devils’ stronghold.

Gareth Bale

Seen as a long-term replacement of Gareth Bale when he signed for the LOS BLANCOS in 2013, Gareth Bale is currently facing the wrath of the Real Madrid supporters who settle on nothing but the best.

While his on-field problems are the cause of the disconcert of LOS BLANCOS faithful, the off-field shenanigans of the Real Madrid supporters might force him to quit Real Madrid next season.

And with his recent record in the Premier League shining like a star before he eventually moved to Madrid, Gareth Bale would be a celebrated signing at the Old Trafford.

Unlike at Real Madrid where he is always burdened by expectations due to playing for the World’s greatest club, Manchester United can provide him a nice respite and allow him to play his natural game.

Nathaniel Clyne

Not a player who shares the same stature as any of the above, Manchester United needs this player to solve their wing-back crisis.

Although Antonio Valencia has been performing really well in this role of late, the fact that he isn’t a permanent full-back epitomizes the importance for a regular right back for the Red devils.

And while there is nobody over-rating the Englishman, his performances this season have only attracted interest from some of the top clubs.

While Manchester United has been his long-term admirers, Arsenal are also waiting in the dark should Southampton decides to cash-on their prized asset. Therefore, Manchester United should act swiftly if they are to capture him.
