Barclays Premier League: How will Manchester United lineup against Aston Villa

Premier League Match Preview

Coming into this match on the back of their most important win of the season, Manchester United faithful would be hoping that the recent win against Liverpool will spur them for the remaining matches of this season.

With 8 games of the season remaining and a 5 point gap between them and 5th place Liverpool developed, the fourth place is now for Manchester United to lose, more than it’s Liverpool’s to win.

Taking a look at their next opponents and although Aston Villa have some decent results since the appointment of Tim Sherwood, Manchester United might prove too much for the Villains in this fixture. Sitting at 16th place in the Premier League just 3 points off the relegation, a draw would be a palatable result for the visiting side.

Talking about Manchester United and taking a look at their squad, their win against Liverpool epitomized the performance for which the Manchester United fans have been craving since the start of this season.

From that Juan Mata goal that started the proceedings for Manchester United to that penalty miss by Wayne Rooney, there was only one team that was likelier to get the result and it was the Red devils.

Talking about team selection and while multi-million pounds in the transfer kitty has its perks, it might bring a headache similar to what is developing inside Old Trafford. With series of brilliant performances under his belt, Juan Mata should get another call for the starting 11.

However, while his role will be debated less, it is the man whom he will replace in the starting 11 that might cause ripples.

Angel Di Maria was destined to be the number 1 player in every Manchester United squad, however, courtesy to his performances since the dawn of new year, the former Real Madrid player has been reduced to the bench by a player whose own Manchester United career was in danger before the dawn of new year.

And while he cannot contribute much from the bench, it would take a bad performance by Juan Mata to give Angel Di Maria a place in the Manchester United starting 11 in future.

Another point of attention is Radamel Falcao and this time, unlike his whole Manchester United career, it is his form for the Country that is taking him to the center stage.

With 3 goals in 2 International games, Falcao has strengthened his claim to extract more game time out of the stubborn Louis Van Gaal who has otherwise, decided to reduce him to the bench of late.

Here is how Manchester United are expected to lineup against Aston Villa: –

Probable lineup of Manchester United:

De Gea – Blind – Valencia – Phil Jones – Marcos Rojo – Michael Carrick – Herrera – Fellaini – Juan Mata – Wayne Rooney – Ashley Young
