Premier League News: John Terry to receive new contract from Chelsea

Soccer, Premier League News:

There were some speculations surrounding John Terry and whether he’ll be a Chelsea player next season but a lot of them were cleared with a statement made by Jose Mourinho. The head-coach of the Blues has promised Terry a new contract during a pre-match press conference before Chelsea’s game against West Ham. The player, however, has ruled out that he will wear England’s national team shirt ever again. He did that after his magnificent performance in the Capital One Cup in which Chelsea defeated Tottenham and won the trophy.

“No, is the simple answer, I don’t want to go into it right now. Being back at Wembley, the atmosphere, the stadium, it’s one of the best I have played in, but it’s never crossed my mind. I have drawn a line under it and the England squad can move on now.”

It’s a shame that the veteran will never play for the national team from now on, but at least he will stay with Chelsea for the next season. Terry is currently 34-years-old, but his skills as a central defender can’t be matched by any other British player at the moment. He is amongst the world’s best in his position and Mourinho knows that. The head-coach is one of the main reasons why Terry will remain at Chelsea at least for now, as he knows the defender’s worth on the pitch.

There still aren’t any details around the contract that Chelsea would offer Terry, neither for its length or money to be received. However, we can say that one thing is almost a hundred percent sure – as long as Mourinho remains Chelsea’s coach, Terry will wear a blue uniform. It will be fitting if the veteran could finish his career at Stamford Bridge and become a Chelsea legend.
