Reinforcement for Barcelona defense, Thomas Vermaelen might be back with the beginning of the April

Thomas Vermaelen 29 year’s old Belgium defender was one of main stories in summer transfer window. We daily read about the new club for this Belgium defender and as the summer transfer window approach toward its end only two clubs left in “game” Barcelona and Manchester United. At the end Barcelona close the deal with Arsenal and for 10 million euros they got a new defender, already injured defender at that point. Season 2014/2015 is going into its last stage in national competitions and European competitions and Thomas Vermaelen still didn’t play even one minute for Barcelona. Vermaelen get injured on last World Cup in Brazil and since then he is fighting with injury problems.According to Barcelona and some Vermaelen statements he might be back to help Barcelona win Spain title and Champions League. Vermaelen wrote on his Facebook:


“Everything is going according to plan; therefore I am right on schedule to get back in the squad in April. It’s a big step in my rehab starting running again. I am very happy to be outside again instead of staying inside in the gym all the time. It’s hard work but it’s worth it.


Most of sport journalist critics Barcelona about signing injured player some even said that Barcelona wasn’t aware of Vermaelen injury, but Vermaelen said that Barcelona was aware of extent of his injury and that they suggest there are two ways of handling it. One of surgery and other was preventative exercises and they agree to take the preventative exercises but it wasn’t going good and after consulting with another specialist they decide to take the surgery. At the start of December Vermaelen underwent a surgery to repair his injury. Now almost 3 months after the surgery he is slowly starting to train with the team and first prognosis for his return are at the start of April.
