What a game we saw last night at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea had it all six minutes before the end and then lost it all. Most newspapers in Europe are talking about this game, off course England newspapers are the most critical one. So you have titles like “Euro Trash” from Mirror Sport, other England newspapers Sun Sport has the title “Blue Suicide” and so on. France newspapers are full of joy and happiness after heroic battle from Paris Saint-Germain, L’Equipe on front page have a picture of Thiago Silva and only one word “Heroes”.
But let’s take a look at the game, almost 20 days ago in first game Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea ends in 1-1. On Stamford Bridge everything was going great for Chelsea in 31’ probably the best Paris Saint-Germain player Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets a direct red card after one foul. In 81’ Cahill bring Chelsea in the lead and nobody expected that Paris SG could get back, but in 86’ former Chelsea player David Luiz score the equalizer and game went to extra times. In 96’ Paris SG captain Thiago Silva handball in box and Kuipers shown on penalty kick, Hazard scored for another Chelsea lead. With 1 player and 1 goal down Paris SG was facing mission impossible at Stamford Bridge. And then in 114’ at Paris SG captain Thiago Silva scored for 2-2. With only 6 minutes until the end Chelsea didn’t have a time (and chances) to score another goal.
After the game even Jose Mourinho congratulation Paris SG players saying that tonight they were a better team and they deserved to go into quarter-finals. Most of England media and newspapers were full of hatred toward Chelsea players and Jose Mourinho. Commentators from BBC Phil McNulty and Sky Sport Jamie Carragher accused Chelsea player for acting cowardly in 31’ after Ibrahimovic start. Most of England media thinks that Kuipers show red card too harsh. Mark Lawrenson journalist for BBC said that their (Chelsea) reaction was outstanding and Oscar should definitely be nominated for Oscar prize. But media did not attack Chelsea players they attack Jose Mourinho and his tactic saying that it’s time for Mourinho to get back from past to presents and that with this tactic he is embarrassing England league. Chelsea players used on critics from media but one sentence will probably hurt those most. After game interview with Zlatan Ibrahimovic journalist ask him about the red card. Ibrahimovic said that he backup the leg since he saw Oscar is going and that red card is not the worse that happened. The worst is that Chelsea players gather around me like 11 babies. England league has reputation as one of toughest league in the world, for Zlatan they are “Kindergarten” league.
