Even though Chelsea was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the week, the team is still confident that they will win the Barclay’s Premier League trophy. The Blues are five points ahead of their rivals Manchester City on top of the table, with 11 games remaining. Jose Mourinho has stated that his squad won’t be denied from lifting the league cup in May.
“They are the same people who won the Capital One Cup and the same people who are going to win the Premier League.”
It’s good that Chelsea’s manager has faith in his player, but can they overcome the shocking elimination from the Champions League? It is very questionable whether everyone’s confidence will be on the same level as before.
“I think we will cope with the pressure of playing against Southampton. We have had key games since the start of the season. It’s more difficult to start the season with the same points as everyone. Now we have five points more. At this moment, it’s easier.”
Furthermore, Mourinho said that it will be a successful season for the Blues if they can win the Premier League and the League Cup.

Nevertheless, this statement isn’t entirely true. Mourinho may say that the campaign is a success, but for team owner, Roman Abramovic, and the fans, the early Champions League exit is a disaster. Moreover, there is still a lot of time until the end of the season so everything can happen. If Chelsea’s players make a couple of mistakes, they can easily find themselves behind Manchester City. The Citizens are currently in a very good form, so in my opinion it won’t be a big surprise if they win the Barclay’s Premier League again.
