Barclays Premier League: How will Liverpool lineup against Swansea City

English Premier League Match Preview

Liverpool will travel to the Liberty Stadium on Monday to fortify their stance for a top 4 finish. With all the other fixtures of this game week done and dusted, Liverpool have the impetus of knowing what lies ahead for them. Looking at the recent visits to the Liberty Stadium after Brendan Rodgers took the Welsh side in the Premier League, the Reds haven’t won a single game out of the 3 that they have played here since the promotion of Swansea to the Premier League in 2012.

Here is how Liverpool will lineup against Swansea: –

Simon Mignolet

Afresh from that stunning save against Blackburn Rovers which kept Liverpool in contention, Simon Mignolet would be hoping to escalate his clean-sheet tally to 11 for the season. Out of the 10 clean sheets that Mignolet has managed so far, 6 have come in his last 10 appearances for the Reds.

Emre Can

Being the contender of the signing of the season, Emre Can has been a major reason of why his goal-keeper is having so many clean sheets later on. With his composure on the ball, ability to thrive in pressure situations and a knack of going after the main man of the opposition, Emre Can is quickly developing a brilliant reputation at the Red end of the Merseyside.

Martin Skrtel

Up-till this game against Swansea, Brendan Rodgers has experimented 6 different formations and the Slovakian has been a major part of 5 of them. That in itself indicates his usefulness for the Reds this season. He will play in the center-back role.

Mamadou Sakho

While he was absent for the last 3 wins that Liverpool have managed in the League, Sakho’s return from injury will limit Dejan Lovren to the bench again. While Lovren has played well in his absence, Liverpool fans and manager alike will prefer Mamadou Sakho over Lovren any day.

Jordan Henderson

Having put to bed the latest speculation over his future as a Liverpool manager with a strong statement in which he neither vindicated nor concurred the idea, Henderson will continue to do what he has been doing brilliantly for the Reds this season.

Alberto Moreno

Being the top-scorer amongst the Liverpool defenders this season in the League with 2 goals, Moreno, with his pace, would fancy going against the Swans who typically play the same style of football which Brendan Rodgers has epitomized at Liverpool.

Joe Allen

Even though Steven Gerrard has returned from injury that kept him out for nearly a month, the Liverpool skipper might take some time to return to the starting 11. And keeping the emotions aside, Allen deserves a place ahead of the Liverpool skipper in the starting 11 for now on.

Raheem Sterling

While Sterling risked the backlash from Liverpool fans with his refusal to sign a new contract till summer, he can soothe their nerves with a good performance against Swansea.

Lazar Markovic

Having watched the whole game against Burnley from the bench, the Serbian might get a chance to impress in this fixture. Having scored 2 goals this season both of whom were for the winning cause, Markovic might want to improve his goal-scoring stats.

Philippe Coutinho

After getting a mouthwatering praise from all and sundry after his scintillating performances against Manchester City and Southampton, the Brazilian looked a bit raw with his shooting boots against Blackburn on the last weekend.

Daniel Sturridge

Having scored 4 goals against Swans since joining Liverpool, this fixture might prove to be a catapult of his low lying form. Although there have been patches of brilliance from the English National, he isn’t making the source of impact on the game overall which the likes of Coutinho and Sterling managed in his absence.

Swansea Vs Liverpool will be played at the Liberty Stadium on Monday 16th March.
