Barclays Premier League: How will Manchester City lineup against West Brom

English Premier League Match Preview

Stunned, dazed and everything but humiliated, these scenes were witnessed at the Camp Nou when the reigning Premier League Champions earned another eradication from a knockout competition this season. While they were expelled from Carling Cup by Newcastle United and their fate in FA Cup was dismantled by Middlesbrough, it was inevitably FC Barcelona that epitomized the weaknesses of the Premier League Champions in UEFA Champions League.

On paper, there are still 9 fixtures of the Premier League to go, in terms of ground realities, this season has been a stark contrast to the expectations that were associated with Manchester City before the start of this season.

Sitting 6 points behind 1st place Chelsea, Manchester City have to be wary of the fact that another slip might cost them the 2nd spot in the League table as Arsenal are piling the pressure of late.

Talking about positives and although there are very few for the Citizens at the moment, the last objective for Manchester City is to retain a position in the top 4. In terms of stature, they would have been piling pressure on Chelsea, in terms of ground realities, Manchester City are just 4 points adrift of the 5th place Liverpool.

Thus, while the magnitude of the upcoming fixtures isn’t that big, their implications could be huge if Manchester City falter again. However, even though they lost their last match at the Turf Moor, Manchester City have lost just 1 game in their previous 12 home matches in the League.

Talking about their lineup which will host West Brom on the weekend, Wilfried Bony can make his 2nd start for the Citizens in a space of two weeks.

Since making his 28million pound move from the Welsh side Swansea, Wilfried Bony has made just 4 appearances for the Citizens and is still finding his first goal in a light-blue shirt.

Talking about injuries and Manchester City will be without Yaya Toure as the Ivorian hasn’t recovered in time from his Achilles injury to be fit for this match. Midfielder James Milner is also out of this fixture while Alexander Kolarov has been a doubt after he suffered an injury against FC Barcelona in midweek.

Here is how Manchester City are expected to lineup against West Brom: –

Manchester City lineup:

Hart – Zabaleta – Kompany – Mangala – Clichy – Fernandinho – Lampard – Nasri – Silva – Aguero – Bony

Manchester City Vs West Brom will take place at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, 21st March.
