UEFA Champions League Match Preview
After seeing a dismal start to their season which saw them stranded in the relegation spot of the Bundesliga till the last month, Borussia Dortmund are now trying to recover the ground that was lost in the opening 6 months of this season. With Marco Reus scoring goals and defense keeping clean sheets on a trot, the German team has every chance to overcome the 1 goal deficit that was inflicted on them a fortnight ago in Italy.
While there is little chance of them qualifying for the Champions League next season through the Bundesliga rankings, winning the Champions League seems the only chance for the German team to take part in next season’s competition.
After winning just 4 matches from the opening 19 matches of this season, Borussia Dortmund have won 4 of the next 6 losing none in the process.
Standing in their way with a 1 goal lead from the first leg are the Italian Champions Juventus. Even though Juventus have been a constant force in Serie A for quite some time now, their form in the Europe’s elite competition has been far from satisfactory. And with a 1 goal lead to defend against the German team, Juventus might have to fight out of their skin to go through to the quarter finals.
Before the start of February, Dortmund won just 4 of the opening 19 matches and were looking like a team destined for relegation. But giving credit to the never ending enthusiasm of Jurgen Klopp and the never-wavering support of his fans, Borussia Dortmund are now residing 5 points off the European places.
