Manchester united transfer news: Ashley Young, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones set to be rewarded with new contracts

Manchester United transfer News

In the aftermath of that win against Liverpool when everything looks brilliant and pleasing to the eye if you are a Manchester United fan, the 20-time Premier League Champions have decided to reward its players with new and lucrative deals. While the arrival of Louis Van Gaal at the helm seen a mass exodus of experienced players, the Dutchman has now decided to reward the signings, that were made by his predecessors, with new and improved contracts.

Chris Smalling signed for Manchester United in the January transfer window of 2010, however, as a part of his deal, Smalling made the debut for the Red devils in the 2010/11 season.

In his first season at the Old Trafford, Manchester United won the Premier League and were runners up in the Champions League. However, due to the presence of Vidic and Ferdinand, the Englishman was a substitute for most part. In the 2011 summer, Smalling signed a new 5 year contract with Manchester United but with that ending in the coming summer, the Englishman was looking to be heading out of the Old Trafford.

Similar is the case with both Jones and Young, both of which, despite being signed in different transfer windows, are currently undergoing their last year in contract with the Red devils. Having signed from Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa respectively in the last years of Sir Alex, the future of both Jones and Young looked in doubt when Louis Van Gaal arrived at the helm.

However, with some decent performances in the last few weeks which has seen Manchester United triumphant against Tottenham and Liverpool on a trot, all 3 players are expected to be tied down at the Old Trafford with new and improved contracts on the table.

Known for his luxury in signing players i.e. Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falco, Manchester United’s executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward is opening talks with the representatives of all 3 players soon. And with Michael Carrick already tied down with a new contract, the contractual situations of the 3 Englishmen are also expected to be solved swiftly.
