Premier League Rumors: The next 5 games will determine Van Gaal's future

Soccer, Premier League News:

It has been reported that the future of the Dutch specialist, Louis Van Gaal, in Manchester United will be determined over the next month. According to numerous sources, if Van Gaal fails to maintain the fourth spot in the Barclay’s Premier League he will quickly be sacked. This will be determined mainly by the outcome of the next five games – vs. Tottenham, vs. Liverpool, vs. Aston Villa, vs. Chelsea and Manchester City. They are all extremely difficult, maybe except against Villa, by anybody’s standards.

“While the Old Trafford board retain faith in Van Gaal to fulfill his remit of securing a top-four spot, the Dutchman’s position will come under scrutiny if United falls away over those crucial games,”

Even if Van Gaal succeeds, a difficult trip to Everton follows. We should mention that last season, David Moyes got fired by the Red Devils front office after the team had suffered a loss at the Goodison Park on 22nd April. The curious fact is that currently Van Gaal has just one win more than Moyes at the same time last year.

Even though, there have been various reports about Van Gaal’s job, the previous actions that United has taken, make it very possible that he may lose his job very soon. The Red Devils are currently in the midst of a very strange season. They have completely lost their offensive identity; their star players are underperforming, and the chemistry has been disastrous. Furthermore, Monday’s loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup ended all the hopes that the club had for lifting a trophy this season.

“Every manager, certainly, has bad games or bad weeks. But unfortunately for Manchester United, the Dutchman has had several in succession. The question is whether Old Trafford will ever see the fruits of his genius or if the end for him is far closer than we realize. […] The most damning indictment of Van Gaal’s showing so far at United is that, in tactical terms, he is being out-thought almost every week.”

Louis Van Gaal usually has a hard time getting player to adapt to his coaching style, but after this amount of time shouldn’t he have at least a bit of success? It’s very surprising that Manchester United are currently in the race for a UEFA Champions League spot, as the team’s actions on the field have been pretty uncoordinated. Maybe it won’t be the best thing for the franchise to fire a coach for the second year in a row, but missing the Champions League yet again could be even worse.
