Premier League Rumors: Walcott heading to Liverpool if Sterling doesn't re-sign?

Soccer, Premier League Rumors:

Raheem Sterling is still not showing any signs that he is ready to re-sign with Liverpool, and the team’s front office has started looking for a replacement. It has been reported that Brendan Rodgers is watching Theo Walcott’s current situation in Arsenal and considering him as a potential transfer target. Walcott is looking for a rise in his salary, as he enters the last season of his contract. The wing is reportedly looking for a deal that is worth a lot more than his current £100 000-per-week. However, the Gunners are very unlikely to give him that deal.

The situation with Liverpool and Raheem Sterling is pretty similar. However, the main difference is that the Reds front office is ready to give Sterling a deal with a big salary. However, the player isn’t sure whether he wants to commit. With the possible scenario of Sterling leaving Anfield, Rodgers is forced to look for another player that could replace him. It has been reported that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are monitoring Sterling and it’s possible that they will make a move in near future.

The best scenario for Liverpool and their fans will be for Sterling to sign a new deal and continue his career at Anfield. Theo Walcott is definitely not an upgrade. First of all, the current Arsenal wing is prone to injuries. Secondly, he is still not the goal scorer that everyone expected he would become. Moreover, Sterling, even at this early stage, is a more complete player than Walcott. The Liverpool striker is a responsible, hard-working and multi-functional. He scores goals, creates a lot of chances for his teammates and helps on the defensive end. Furthermore, Sterling is six years younger than Walcott.

It will be quite interesting to follow and see what will happen in the future. It wouldn’t be a good thing if Arsenal lose Theo Walcott, as he has shown that he is a very valuable throughout the years. However, their loss wouldn’t be as devastating as Liverpool’s if the Reds see Sterling sign with another club. It would be wise if Liverpool agrees with all the conditions that Sterling sets because he is definitely a special player and is worth the sacrifices.
