According to a whooping survey by a France football magazine, the list of the highest-paid footballers in 2015 has been revealed. While the top 3 names were as expected, some of the nominees in the top 5 demands further explanation. Amongst the top 5 players, only 1 is from English Premier League while the other non-LA-Liga entrant is currently trying his luck in France.

Here are the 5 highest-paid footballers of the World in 2015: –
Lionel Messi

While some of you would have expected to find a name of a certain Portuguese on top, Lionel Messi – as he so often does on the pitch, has eclipsed the Portuguese to come on top. Just like his acts on the football field, Lionel Messi has come first in this comparison as well. While he earns almost 1million pounds a week from his salary and other global deals, Lionel Messi earned 47million pounds in 2014, a large fraction of which came from his deals.

Cristiano Ronaldo

For a player who has entered into his 30’s, the global appeal of the Ballon D’Or winner is going nowhere – at least for the moment. While 2014 was a year of success for both Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo as they won UEFA Champions League, Ronaldo enjoyed similar fortunes of the pitch as his yearly income suggests. He earned 39.7-million-pounds in 2014.

Neymar

Even though he is currently way behind the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to global appetite, the Brazilian – with his wage structure, has shown the World that only 2 footballers in the World gets paid more than him in the whole of last year. While he was castigated in 2014 time-and-again by matters others than football, his employers took little notice as his wage structure suggests. He earned 26.8miliion pounds in 2014.

Thiago Silva

One of the two Brazilians in this list and the only representative from French football, Thiago Silva makes the entry and is the only defender in this list. When the Qatar based consortium bought PSG, Silva was one of the signings that were made in their first year in-charge.

Van Persie

Unlike the aforementioned players who enjoyed a stellar year in 2014, Van Persie was nowhere near his best last year and is still struggling to get back his glory days. In a year in which his goal against Spain in the World Cup was the highest point, Van Persie had little trouble off the pitch with his financial matters. Even though Wayne Rooney also earned a deal worth 300k per week last year, Van Persie left his counterpart behind as the Dutchman earned 18.8million pounds
