With the three games today EHF Velux Champions League has finish first games of round 16. Probably the most interesting game was between 2 German powerhouses Flensburg-Handewitt and THW Kiel.
SG Flensburg-Handewitt vs. THW Kiel 21 – 30 (9 – 16)
Kiel demolishes Flensburg in their first game in Campushalle in Flensburg. The one and only lead in the game Flensburg-Handewitt gets in first minute and it was 1-0. From that point Kiel quickly take over the lead and in 10’ it was already 6-2 for Kiel. Flensburg couldn’t do anything in the attack, they made a lot of unforced errors or wrong passes and Kiel wingers didn’t forgive that. At the halftime score was already huge +7 (16-9). Kiel started second as they finish the first, during the entire 2nd half Kiel was around +7 or +8 and in last attack they manage to score for final 30-21 for TWK Kiel. Eggert with 5 and Nenadic with 4 goals were the best scorers for home side and for Kiel Ekberg and Vujin both scored 7 goals each.
Montpellier HB vs. KS Vive Kielce 25 – 29 (13 – 16)
Only undefeated team in group phase manage to stay undefeated in France. In a good first half neither teams could get any early game advantage. After ten minutes Kielce had +2 (6-4) but Montpellier quickly manage to equalizer the score. In second half until the 45’ we saw goal by goal. In 45’ Kielce manage to get on +3 24-21, but Montpellier once more get back into the game and in 55’ score was 25-25. But in last five minutes Montpellier just couldn’t find a way to score and Kielce used that to finish the game with 4 goals lead 29-25. Kavticnik (8) and Simonet (6) were the best scorers for Montpellier and Bielecki (6) and Jurecki (5) scored most goals for guests.
Aalborg Handball vs. FC Barcelona 11 – 31 (5 – 16)
What to say about this game, totally domination and 20 goals win for FC Barcelona. On the halftime score was already +11 for Barcelona. Except goalkeeper Saric everyone from Barcelona scored at least one goal Lazarov was the best scorer with 8 goals. For home side Sagosen scored 3 and Slundt scored 2.
