Soccer, Primera Division News:
The current manager of Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone, has signed a new contract with the club, which states that he will be in charge until 2020. The deal is great for both sides, as Atletico has grown a lot during his tenure, and Simeone has become a more experienced coach. After the contract had been signed, the Argentinian manager made a statement in which he thanked everyone that has worked and continue working for the team.
“Ahead of us we can look forward to a new stadium, there is a great deal of excitement. The club keeps growing. I’ve made a decision to stay where I am and decisions are sometimes difficult to make in life. Fortunately I’ve been able to make this decision as I see a club that is moving forward, I see eagerness to grow and people willing to collaborate. We all love Atletico Madrid, and we all want to grow together. We all have a responsibility, hard work, nerves and fear. There is plenty ahead for us and so much depends on the ball going into the net or not but at least we will offer hard work as always.”
Simeone has completely revolutionized the club and will most likely be the most important figure in the club for the next couple of years. He has led Atletico Madrid to their first La Liga title since 1996, and he also won the UEFA Champions League title last year. Simeone has been the heart and soul of the club since he arrived in 2011. Even though he is just 44-years-old, the Argentinian hasn’t shown any signs of inexperience.
There were a lot of rumors stating that the manager could soon leave Atletico Madrid in order to join Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain. However, none of those speculations came true. Simeone committed to Atletico in the long run, and it’s great to see him remaining at his current club. The team has become the nation’s favorite, mainly because of how brave they play. Simeone has inspired this braveness.
