Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha, once most expensive stadium now most expensive parking lot

Soccer News:

Even before the start of FIFA World Cup in Brazil there was a lot of controversy from the first cost to even will there be any profit for Brazil in this World Cup. One of controversy was about the new/old stadiums that supposed to hold games of World Cup.

One of those stadiums is Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha in capitol of Brazil Brasília. Before the start of World Cup it was strange that Brazil government wanted to renovate this stadium. There were a lot of factors that was going against this stadium from distance to high humidity but at the end stadium gets renovated. Renovation of the stadium built-in 1974 cost stunning $900 million and with that price it becomes second most expensive stadium in the world behind London Wembley stadium. Even during renovation some newspapers discover fraud about the price, but at the end stadium renovation cost stunning $900 million. During FIFA World Cup there was 7 games played on this stadium and it was never full, after renovation its capacity increased to 72 700 spectators. There was around 68 000 spectators during all 7 games, even in the game for third place where home side Brazil was playing against Netherland there was 68 034 spectators. After the World Cup stadium was only used two times and now it lay empty. Brasília is a city without any strong soccer representative and it becomes even stranger now to see such a beautiful stadium and nobody to play in it. But recently Brasília government found a new “work” for Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha. From one of most expensive stadium in the world it becomes most expensive parking lot in the world. With the high monthly cost of the stadium Brasília government start using stadium as a bus garage, stadium can hold about 400 vehicles.

It is that on stadium that holds the name one of best dribbles in the football history and two times World Cup winner instead of fans and players we see busses and other vehicles. But as one reported say this stadium is clear look on what everything is wrong in Brazil soccer.
