Barclays Premier League: 5 strikers Manchester United can sign in summer transfer window

Manchester United transfer news:

When Manchester United signed Radamel Falcao in the summer transfer window for a hefty price tag, it was thought that the Colombian would prove to be fruitful for the Red devils for a long term. Signed from French club AS Monaco on loan with an option to buy, the Colombian has failed to replicate the form which he enshrined in his Atletico Madrid days.

Thus, with Van Persie on the wrong side of 30 and Rooney playing in deep, Manchester United have to enter in the transfer market for a striker in summer.

Here are 5 strikers Manchester United can sign in summer transfer window: –

Edinson Cavani

Currently playing for the French domestic Champions Paris Saint Germain, the Uruguayan has all the traits to succeed in English football. While he has been the 2nd top scorer for the French outfit, the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has limited the game time for the Uruguayan.

Thus, even though he looked brilliant for PSG in the opening months, lack of game time can force the Uruguayan to seek greener pastures in the summer. However, with 28 years of age under his belt, the Uruguayan might be a short-term solution for the Red devils.

Mauro Icardi

One of the hottest prospects in the World of football at the moment, the 22 year old has stunned everybody since his rise for the Italian side Inter Milan. With 14 goals in 24 games for the Italian side, Icardi has been chased by a lot of clubs during the past 6 months.

Although Inter are currently sitting 9th – 8 points off the Champions League places , Mauro Icardi has been competing with the League’s best as he is the 2nd top scorer in Serie A this season

One of the positives of Icardi is his ability to drop deep and with Wayne Rooney the traditional goal-scorer for the Red devils, Icardi can provide the space for the veteran striker to score a handful of goals.

Bas Dost

Not a name of the ilk of the aforementioned duo, the in-form Wolfsburg striker has caused headaches to a lot of teams in the Bundesliga this season. While he rose to the scene with his stunning brace against Bayern Munich, Dost is far from a one-match wonderer as his consistency this season suggests.

Having scored 12 goals in 13 matches in the Bundesliga, Bas Dost averages just under a goal per game this season

While his manager hasn’t shown enough confidence in him in the early stages of 2014/15 season, Dost – with his magnificent performances, has forced his manager to include him in his plans for future. He has scored 13 goals in 12 competitions for the Bundesliga side.

Paulo Dybala

Having made his debut for the Argentinian second division side Instituto-De-Cordoba in 2011, Dybala has been one of the quickest learners in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season. While he has featured in 3 seasons for Palermo in Serie A after moving to Italy earlier, this has been his best season by far in Palermo colors.

Having featured in 23 games for the Italian side, Dybala has netted 12 goals and is the 4th top scorer in Serie A this season

Having featured in 23 games for the Italian side, Dybala has netted 12 goals with 7 assists to his name. He has been by far the most influential player for Palermo this season and is a major reason for them fighting for a top 10 position this season.

Harry Kane

Even though the aforementioned players have stature, this is a player who would be a dream signing for the Red devils’ next season. Being one of the most in-form English strikers this season, it has been the rise of Harry Kane that has cut short the work-rate of his team-mates. With Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor both struggling for goals, Kane has quickly developed reputation of a natural goal-scorer.

Although he is just 21 years of age, Harry Kane has scored more goals than the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Robin Van Persie this season

While the club of the stature of Manchester United require players that perform at the biggest level, Kane has already demonstrated his abilities with his brace that outwitted Chelsea at the White Hart Lane earlier this season. However, with Daniel Levy famous for his negotiations, Kane can cost Manchester United more than 30million pounds if they want to land him in summer.
