West Indies Cricket: Sunil Narine rules himself out of Cricket World Cup 2015!

Cricket News:

After a disastrous 2014, it felt that the New Year might change the fortunes as far as West Indies cricket are concerned. But after 1 month of 2015 is almost done and dusted, old problems continues to persist for the Caribbean side. After key players like Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard were excluded from the World squad due to disciplinary reasons, now another star player is ruled out from Next Year’s Mega Event. Sunil Narine, who has been an integral part of West Indian squad for last 2 years, has now ruled himself out of the World Cup 2015.

Sunil Narine, who took 73 wickets in 52 matches with an average of just under 27 in One Day Internationals was one of the best spinners in World Cricket for quite a while now. But when ICC scrutinized bowling action rules, Narine became its one of many victims. It has been mentioned in ICC rule that no spinner can turn his elbow more than 15 degrees. But just like Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez of Pakistan, it was reported that Narine was also violating the rule.

After last year’s t20 World Cup, match officials reported against his bowling action. Now after working for good 1 year, Narine was unable to change his action. He was initially included in the West Indies squad which will travel to New Zealand and Australia next month, but today Narine ruled himself out of the Mega Event. He said,

“While I am very happy with the progress made to date with my action, I am withdrawing from the World Cup,”

So now when West Indies will open their World Cup account against Ireland on February the 16th, Sunil Narine will be a key miss from their starting XI.
