Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has made a secret phone call to his former star man Lionel Messi and advised him to stay at Barcelona and to sort things out with the current coach Luis Enrique. Messi had been unsettled at Barcelona in the previous weeks and has been quite disgruntled with his coach.
Relations between Lionel Messi and Luis Enrique had been at an all time low following the 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad when Luis Enrique opted to drop Messi to the bench. This led the star to state that he was unsure about his future at the club and does not know where he would play next season.
Chelsea, PSG and Manchester City were all linked with a move to Messi, with the club’s having enough money to land the star forward. But Pep Guardiola called Messi in an attempt to calm things down and to guide Messi to make the right decision at the Club.
Pep Guardiola reminded Messi of what Barcelona means to him and how the club has been influential in bringing him up as a star. He stressed on the fact that Barcelona is the only club where he would be pampered and the center of attention at all times. He advised him to stick with the club and to weather the storm.
He also reinstated that Luis Enrique had the ability to take Barcelona forward and was the right man for the job. Pep advised Messi to wait for the upcoming Barca elections which will see a better time for the club. The previous 12 months had been torrid for the club but Pep believes that a new dawn is around the corner and Messi should stay for it.
Pep Guardiola’s advice would be enough to settle Messi at the club and would help him get back to football in Barca colors.
