Theo Walcott: Current Arsenal team is better than the Invincible 11 of Henry and Co.

Arsenal Transfer News:

In the aftermath of that win against Manchester City which has earned Arsenal players praise from all corners of the Premier League, Theo Walcott has come up with an outrageous claim of comparing this team with the Invincible 11 that Arsene Wenger possessed in 2003-04 season. While Arsenal fans have been in jubilant amid the recent storm of praise that has come their way, this claim by Walcott might erupt discussions amongst the Gunners’ faithful.

Played 49 – won 36 – drawn 13, this was the statistic that was achieved last time Arsenal won the Premier League title to their name before a goal by Wayne Rooney ended their streak in the 2004-05 season at the Old Trafford.

Having at his peril the services of star players like Theirry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, and Patrick Viera, Arsene Wenger showed the World what a competitive, physical and able Arsenal side can do at its best. While they achieved that ‘’Invincible’’ tag that season, Arsenal are only 1 of the 2 teams in the English football history to have gone a full season unbeaten in the Premier League.

However, Walcott who arrived at Arsenal sometime after that feat, claims that the current Arsenal 11 can beat that of 2003-04, however, he claims, that this group of talented players have to provide a solid proof of their credentials to the World.

When I came, it was Pires and Ljungberg, Bergkamp, Thierry, and Reyes – that’s some attacking force as well. I think this squad probably does beat it, but we need to prove it first.

When we go and achieve a little bit more than winning the FA Cup, then I think we can stand up and say this is the best attacking line-up we’ve ever had. It is a headache for the manager when you have that many great attacking options.” Walcott stated in an interview which is available at the Arsenal player.

Thus, even though the Arsenal winger has made a bold claim, his team-mates have half of a season to either solidify this claim or let the English International down with his over-weighed statement.
