Iran – Austria 26-38 (13-18)
Austria manage to get their second win in this World Handball Championship, while Iran gets their fourth defeat. Iran didn’t have much chance in this game. Austria quickly manage to get +7 (9-2) and from that point they were controlling the game. Iran start better in second half and in 42’ they manage to lower goal difference to only -3 (21-24), but Austria goalkeeper Nikola Marinovic was didn’t allow any surprises today. Austria soon scored three quick goals and again went on +5 which they hold until the end.
Bosnia and Herzegovina – Tunisia 24-27 (14-15)
there will be a lot of talk about this game especial about some referees decision. First half was played goal by goal and neither team could get any big goal difference. Halftime score was 15-14 for Tunisia. In second half after several mistakes by Bosnia and Herzegovina players Tunisia manage to go on +3, but Bosnia and Herzegovina players manage to fight back and in 52’ they took the lead 23-22. In last four minutes score was 24-24 but Bosnia and Herzegovina couldn’t manage to score a goal until the end while Tunisia scored three to secure their first win in this Championship.
Croatia – FYR of Macedonia 29-26 (15-14)
in derby game of Group B Croatia beat FYR of Macedonia and get the first place in Group B. Croatia had a bad start they manage to score but also miss some impossible shots that allow Macedonia to make fast breaks and easy goals. At the middle of first half FYR of Macedonia manage to get +4 (9-5). Croatian coach Slavko Goluza called a timeout and after that it was different Croatia. They start playing defense and goal difference quickly turns in their favor. Macedonia try to get back but they hit the Croatian defense wall and even if they manage to shoot then Mirko Alilovic was there to stop it. Crucial moment of the game happened in second half when FYR of Macedonia get double suspension, Croatia took that chance to get them on three goals lead. Until the end experience Croatian team didn’t allow Macedonia to come near and to threaten their win.
In Group B we know that Croatia is number one no matter what will be the outcome of their last game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Who will go from second place will be decide in direct clash between Macedonia and Austria in last round. Fourth place will probably take Tunisia, they have some slight chance to catch third place but that would mean that Macedonia must demolish Austria or they have to demolish Iran.
