According to some newspapers and internet portal Manchester United has reach an agreement with Dynamo Kiev about their defender Aleksandar Dragovic. Yes, you read it right Louis Van Gaal will sign some defenders for his team.
Since his arrival in Manchester United this summer after the World Cup in Brazil, Louis van Gaal signs six players for total of €170 Mill. For United money is not a problem, their vice-chairman Ed Woodward said many times last (and this) year. But what was more surprise about Louis van Gaal signs are that he didn’t sign any defenders.
United lost their long time central defenders Nemanja Vidic (Inter, Seria A) and Rio Ferdinand (QPR, Premiership) at the end of last season and they didn’t have any substitute for them. Louis van Gaal manages to sign one defender in summer; Marcos Rojo gets transferred from Monaco after his good plays for Argentina on World Cup. Rojo is a good player but he is not a sweeper that van Gaal needs for his tactic. Louis van Gaal is forcing 3-5-2 tactic that means that he need experience sweeper for a good defense.
Young Austrian Aleksandar Dragovic (23) is also not a sweeper that Louis van Gaal need for his team, but at the moment when Dragovic sign (if he signs) he will be the best defense solution for central defender. Dragovic started his career in Austria Wien and in season 2010/2011 he gets transferred to FC Basel for €2.6 Mill. With Basel he played UEFA Champions league they were in Group C with Manchester United, first game they draw at Old Trafford 3-3 and in last round Basel beat them 2-1 and kicked them out from second round. His good plays in FC Basel earn him transfer to Dynamo Kiev for €6.16 Mill in season 2013/2014. This season Dragovic is one of key defenders in Dynamo who only manage to receive 7 goals from 14 games in Ukraine national championship.
Dragovic transfer from Dynamo Kiev to Manchester United according to some sources will be around €20 Mill. If United manages to sign Dragovic that would mean that van Gaal finally will have some choice in defense. Currently United have three experience defenders Jones, Rojo and Evans and two youngsters U21 players Blackett and McNair. Dragovic will be a good addition to United defensive lines.
