NBA Rumors: Arron Afllalo and Wilson Chandler leaving the Denver Nuggets?

Basketball, NBA News:

The Denver Nuggets haven’t enjoyed the best season of the franchise and with the playoffs looking farther and farther away, it seems like they are going into full rebuild mode. They already shipped their center Timofey Mozgov to the Cleveland Cavaliers in an exchange for some draft picks and it looks like the Nuggets front office is trying hard to trade other players too. The biggest suspects right now are Wilson Chandler and Arron Afflalo.

To start off with Chandler – he is a very quality player, a big wing that is on a very reasonable salary, as he is owed only $7.1 million next season, the final year of his contract. That is quite an attractive factor, given the way every team around the NBA is trying to save cap space. Arron Afflalo is a very good three-point specialist that can also play some pretty solid defense. He also comes at a very reasonable price – just one more year on his contract, a player option for $7.5 million. Afflalo is a type of player that could fit on a lot of teams, especially playoff teams that need a boost on their perimeter defense. “The 29-year-old [Afflalo] has averaged 15.6 points per game since the start of the 2010-11 season and boasts an impressive .461/.383/.827 shooting slash over that stretch. Add in the fact he can play and defend multiple positions on the perimeter, and it’s obvious why teams would have an interest in acquiring him.”

Both Afflalo and Chandler are players that could fit quite nicely on a title contender, that is built to win now and is ready to ship young players and draft picks – maybe the Cavaliers or Thunder can be interested. It’s not a sure thing whether the Nuggets players will be dealt before the trade deadline, but it is surely something to look out for.
