National team of Bosnia and Herzegovina lost their third game against Tunisia yesterday 24-27 and only miracle could get them into the next round. But more than a lost game for Bosnia and Herzegovina it hurts the way how did they lost, according to them Portugal referee couple Duarte Santos and Ricardo Luis Fonseca turn the game in Tunisia favor giving them nine shots from 7m and keeping them near Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One of best scorers for Bosnia and Herzegovina on this Championship Ivan Karacic said: “They took our victory! You saw it all; I cannot believe that this is the way to call the decision on World Handball Championship. I never seen this before, they (referee) keep them alive during entire game. They allowed rough play for them and didn’t allow it for us.”
When ask to say some quick words about the game Senjamin Buric replayed who do you think beat us Tunisia or those two in black? He then said the only thing that was missing in this game is that referee start scoring for Tunisia.
Mirsad Terzic one of most experienced Bosnian player and current member of Veszprem said that this is more their fault then referees, he agree that referees made some bad calls but nothing huge like his teammates are saying.
If we look at statistic then Bosnia and Herzegovina get 6 times 2 min suspension while Tunisia had 5 times 2 min suspension. The only strange thing is 7m shots, Tunisia manage to get 9 of them while Bosnia and Herzegovina only got 2. But probably the reason why Bosnia and Herzegovina lost their game is because of fast breaks and breakthroughs because Tunisia mange to score 12 goals from them.
If you watch this game then you would probably agree with Mirsad Terzic who said that referee didn’t beat Bosnia and Herzegovina, their inexperience beat them.
For Bosnia and Herzegovina this is their first appearance in some major handball competition. They manage to enter World Championship from European qualifications where they win Group 5 in front of Portugal, Latvia and Estonia. In play-off round they get to play against Iceland and on big surprise they manage to kick them out with 62-61 (33-32; 29-29) on aggregate.
Bosnia and Herzegovina still have a chance to be in second round, only that mission is almost impossible. For them to be in second round Iran needs to beat Tunisia in last round and they need to beat Croatia. Croatia already secured first spot so Slavko Goluza will probably rotate and rest some key players, but Iran have slim (almost non) chance to win against Tunisia. But miracles happened if you believe in them.
