Barclays Premier League: 3 right-backs Arsenal can sign to solve their current injury crisis

English Premier League News:

Even though, Arsene Wenger and fans are jubilant after seeing their team’s recent win against the reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City, there are certain positions in their squads that are demanding interest from the Arsenal boss. With the injury of Mathieu Debuchy which has left Arsenal open at the back, a right back should be a priority for the Gunners’ boss in the remaining 10 days of this transfer window.

Here are 3 right-backs Arsenal can sign to solve their current injury crisis: –

Alvaro Arbeloa

A former Liverpool player that that played a part in their failed title attempt of that 2008/09 season before being shipped to Spain, the 1 time World Cup winner right back has still a lot of gas left in his tank to succeed in the Premier League. At 32 years of age and having 2 years left on his contract with the LOS BLANCOS, lack of playing time due to the meteoric rise of fellow team-mate Danny Carjaval has left the Spaniard looking for new pastures.

However, with Arbeloa being at the wrong side of 32, the Spaniard cannot maintain the intensity of World class performances that Arsenal will expect from any new player that will fill the void. And looking at the policy of Arsenal board to acquire young talent and nurturing them into World class players, Arbeloa might not be a celebrated signing by the Arsenal faithful even if Arsene Wenger decides to splash the cash on him.

Nathaniel Clyne

Even though, the right back is living in dream land this season after seeing the rise of Southampton, an approach by Arsenal could lure him with a trap to play in the Champions League as a shining prospect. Even though they’re in pole position to play in Champions League next season, Southampton can obviously not give Clyne a European elite status which he will acquire after joining his forces with Arsenal team

And at just 23 years of age with all of his best years lying in front of the Englishman, Clyne can become a long-term solution of the problem that has encapsulated Arsenal at the right back spot.

However, unlike Arbeloa who isn’t getting enough game time to extend his stay, Clyne has featured in all but 2 games for the Saints this season which makes the task of Arsene Wenger all that difficult to lure the Englishman away from Southampton.

Dani Alves

Even though this move is expected to happen at the end of this season as Alves is seeing his last year of contract with Barcelona, Arsenal can still benefit from loads of experience they’ll get by extracting the veteran fullback from the Catalan giants. Being a part of the Barcelona side that has won 4 LA LIGA titles and 2 Champions League medals during his 7 year stay, Arbeloa might bring to Arsenal the same winning mentality the likes of Ozil and Sanchez have brought in from Spain.

While his age might serve Arsene Wenger with a 2nd thought before going in his pursuit, the performance levels of the Brazilian this season has been on-par, to say the least. Being a part of the Barcelona squad that kept 8 successive clean sheets at the start of 2014-15 LA Liga season, Alves has also managed 2 assists from his full back role.
