The Australian Open 2015 day 5 came off as a shock for many tennis lovers when world’s second best tennis player, Roger Federer got knocked out of the Australian Open after suffering a shocking defeat from his opponent Andreas Seppi, a player who comes on number 46 in the world ranking.
This time around, the Australian Open is not expected to be the same as it will not be featuring one of the best players of all times, Roger Federer, in its semi-final for the first time since 2003. The defeat left many tennis lovers stunned when Seppi, a player who had not been able to won even a single game against Federer in the last 10 encounters, notched the game and managed a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) victory over the four times former champion of Australian Open. The winner undoubtedly provided a stunning game and was able to reach the fourth round of Australian Open only for the third time in his career. In one of his interviews after the game, Seppi said:
“It was one of the best matches for sure otherwise I can’t win against Roger. It’s never comfortable playing against Roger, you never can feel comfortable.”
Since Federer is out of the game, Seppi will now face Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round.
The other actions of Day 5 involve the advancement of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray to the fourth round after they defeated their respective opponents in straight sets. On the women’s side, Maria Sharapova, Simona Halep and Eugenie Bouchard have made it to the fourth round.
