A day of records for Canadian Tennis.

Tennis Updates:

Today, the show was stolen by the Canadian tennis player, Milos Raonic, who defeated Feliciano Lopez in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-3 win at Melbourne Park and made his way to the quarterfinal. Raonic has become the first Canadian tennis player to reach the top eight of the Australian Open in Melbourne in the last 47 years. He also set a record of becoming the second Canadian man who has made it to the Grand Slam quarterfinals for the third time; Robert Powell was the first one to make this record.

“It’s an exciting time for Canadian tennis”, Raonic expressed his thoughts after the match.

The player presented a good game in last summer at Wimbledon’s semifinal but for the first time, he has been able to get past the fourth round and make it to the top eight in Melbourne. The winner had to face a tough game of more than three hours before he gained a five set victory over his opponent, Lopez. It was no doubt a day of records for Canadian tennis.

The eighth seed will now face the top seed of the tennis, Novak Djokovic, who will be appearing in his 23rd consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal. Djokovic has made it to the top eight after gaining a 6-4, 7-5, 7-5 victory over Gilles Muller. The tennis world no.1 player appears to be in good form and is expected to provide a hard time to Raonic in their quarterfinal clash. The two tennis players will land against each other on the ground on Wednesday.
