World Handball Championship:

Group C:

  1. [Q] Sweden 3-1-0 +30

  2. [Q] France 3-1-0 +13

  3. [Q] Egypt 2-1-1 +13

  4. Iceland 1-1-2 -11

  5. Czech Republic 1-0-3 -9

  6. Algeria 0-0-4 -36

Sweden – Egypt 25-25 (10-10)

in a good game Egypt surprise everyone and manage to get a draw against Sweden. At the start of the game Egypt show that they will not be an easy win for Sweden since in first 15’ Sweden manage to get only one goal advance. Star of the game was Egypt goalkeeper Karim Handaway; he didn’t allow Sweden to make some bigger goal difference. Egypt start strong in second half and in 42’ they manage to have +5 (19-14). With four goals advantage (24-20) Egypt enter in last eight minutes of the game. But Sweden manage to consolidate their ranks and to start fighting back. Only two minutes before the end they scored for 25-24, but then Ahmed Elahmar score for final score.

Iceland – Czech Republic 25-36 (11-21)

Czech  manage to make another surprise in this Championship. Iceland opens the game poorly and allow Czech to build goal difference from the start. Czech also had a massive help from their goalkeeper Petr Stochl who manages to get 17 saves in this game (41%). With poor opening and excellent Stochl on the goal Czech manage to get +10 on the halftime. In second half Iceland coach Aron Kristjansson tried everything to wake his team but nothing helped them. At the end Czech manage to get their first victory.

Algeria – France 26-32 (12-19)

Algeria lost their last chance to see a second round of World Handball Championship. France was dominated in first half and manage to get themselves +7 on the halftime. In second half Algeria surprise when in 44’ Berkous scored for only -1 (23-24). But after that goal France scored five goals and end Algeria dream about the next round.

Group D:

  1. [Q] Germany 3-1-0 +9

  2. [Q] Denmark 2-2-0 +23

  3. [Q] Poland 3-0-1 +18

  4. Argentina 1-1-2 +6

  5. Russia 1-0-3 +5

  6. Saudi Arabia 0-0-4 -61

Germany – Argentina 28-23 (13-14)

Argentina didn’t manage to surprise another European giant. Both teams started strong but how the game was going to the end of first half Germany start to lose their focus and to make more errors in the attacks. That gives Argentina a chance to get a lead before the halftime. Second half was similar to first Germany had slight lead but Argentina was always closely behind them. As the game getting closer to the end Argentina started to make more and more technical errors in attack. That gave Germany opportunity to make some significant lead and at the end to take the victory.

Poland – Saudi Arabia 32-13 (17:6)

Saudi Arabia didn’t have a chance in this game. From the start Poland took the lead and it was just extending. Saudi Arabia didn’t even once (except 0-0 at the start) come close to Poland.

Russia – Denmark 28-31 (8-16)

we can say first good (normal) game from Denmark side on this Championship. Russia manages to keep the pace until 19’ when the score was 8-8. For the last eleven minutes of the first half they didn’t manage to score a goal while Denmark scored eight. In second half Russia played better but they couldn’t come close to really danger Denmark lead.
