Volleyball Reviews: Trentino bounces back, defeats Perugia

Radostin Stoytchev and his men were able to win against Sir Safety Perugia today, as this was the 13th victory in a row in the Italian Serie A1 for Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino. The final score of the match was 3:1 (23:25, 25:18, 25:18, 25:19) in favor of Trentino. The game was played in front of nearly 3500 fans in the “Pala Trento” arena. With this win, Trentino was able to maintain its first place in the regular season standing, now having 36 points after 13 victories and one loss. Modena Volley has the same amount of points, but they have been victorious 12 points and have suffered a defeat two times.


In the first set after 29 minutes of play, the guests from Perugia surprisingly were able to win with a 23:25 score. However, Trentino mobilized themselves and fought back strong in the next two sets, not giving a chance to their opponents to score more than 18 points. In the fourth period, Sir Safety Perugia made attempts to come back and force a tiebreak, however Trentino was the better concentrated team the whole time. This way, Trentino has continued the regular season without a loss, except the one in the opening round.


For Trentino, the most valuable players were again the trio of Martin Nemec, Filippo Lanza and Matey Kaziyski. They finished with 18 points (2 aces), 17 points (1 ace) and 16 points (2 aces and 3 blocks) respectively to lead their team to victory. For the squad from Perugia, the Serbian star Aleksandar Atanasijevic and the German national player Christian Fromm weren’t able to help their team avoid the loss, as they finished with 15 and 14 points respectively.


In the next round of the Italian Serie A1, Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino will be facing Exprivia Neldiritto Molfetta, while Sir Safety Perugia will try and rebound from the loss against Top Volley Latina.
