Neymar: Spanish authorities should ‘’punish’’ Cristiano Ronaldo

La Liga News:

In a surprising turn of events which unfolded after the World best player of the year saw a red card in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win against Cordoba, Neymar has come forward to make a demand which might cause riots in the Spanish capital.

Coming from Brazil to the Catalan giants and immediately becoming an opponent for his South American mate, Neymar has probably gone too far in his recent plea to the Spanish authorities in which he pleaded them to punish Cristiano Ronaldo severely.

Even though Neymar’s outburst isn’t characteristic of the Brazilian, the Portugese Ronaldo is finding himself in a predicament after his outburst against Cordoba on Saturday.

Match was level on 1-1 and Ronaldo was eager to break the deadlock, however, give credit to the defenders of the home side, the Portuguese lost his cool and smashed the Cordoba defender in the head to earn a straight red card.

Even though Carlo Ancelloti praised the Portuguese when the latter was departing from the ground, the former AC Milan manager might feel the heat in the coming weeks as his Real Madrid team looks set to go for at-least a 3-6 week period without their best player on the pitch.

Even though Neymar – who scored twice in Barcelona’s recent win against Elche – intended to give the Portuguese the benefit of doubt with his statement, he insisted that the Portuguese should be punished to stop such actions in the future.

‘’It happened to Zinedine Zidane, it happened to me. Nobody has the coolness to remain calm 100 per cent of the time. We must think with our heads. I think he should be punished.

‘It is the referee’s responsibility to protect players on the pitch, particularly when they are targeted by hard challenges. Hard tackles must be punished
.’’

Even though Ronaldo immediately apologized in his twitter account after the match, the media frenzy surrounded the Portuguese after his act of shame on the pitch.

However, looking at the report which was given by the referee to LA LIGA authorities regarding the incident, Ronaldo might face the usual punishment of a red card and could escape any further punishment as the referee didn’t mentioned the incident fully in his post-match report.
